SMK Finishes: Here are just a few samples of the most common finish colors. You can use your imagination to create a custom color combination of your very own. Solid colors also available. The sky is the limit. We use only nitrocellulose lacquer for our gloss finishes. These finishes are sprayed, wet sanded, and buffed by hand. Nitro lacquer is one of the best finishes for a guitar. It lets the guitar breath and vibrate as it should. Along with providing a durable protective finish, it has a very desirable look. SMK never uses polyurethane finishes, as we believe they smother the natural sound of the guitar. We also spray a satin version of our nitro lacquer to provide a matte finish for those who prefer that satin feel. Hand rubbed oil finishes are also available.
